Frequently Asked Questions

How does scoring work?
Correct winner = 1 point. Correct score = 3 points. Confidence multiplier: 5-star correct = 2x points (6pts for exact score), but 5-star wrong = -2 points. 4-star correct = 1.5x, 4-star wrong = -1. 1-3 stars = no bonus, no penalty. Use high confidence wisely!
Is FanPick really free?
Yes. Every feature is free. FanPick is supported by ads — you'll see a few banners on the page. No payment, no subscription, no premium tier.
Do I need to predict all 72 matches?
No! You can predict as many or as few matches as you want. Fill in just one group, or just the matches you care about. Your predictions save automatically — come back anytime to add more. You can download your prediction card and share it after making just 1 prediction.
Can I predict by group or by individual match?
Both. The Bracket page has 12 group tabs (A–L). Click any group to see its 6 matches. Enter scores for any match you want — each one saves individually when you click away. No need to fill the whole group or the whole bracket.
How does the confidence rating work?
Each prediction has a 1–5 star confidence rating. It's a risk/reward tradeoff: 5-star correct = 2x points, but 5-star wrong = -2 points. 4-star correct = 1.5x, 4-star wrong = -1. 1-3 stars = no bonus, no penalty. So don't just pick 5 stars for everything — if you're wrong, you lose points! Use high confidence only when you're truly sure.
Do I need to create an account?
No. FanPick uses your browser to save your predictions. No email, password, or account needed.
How do I invite friends?
Create a group and FanPick generates a unique link. Share it anywhere — WhatsApp, Slack, email. Anyone with the link can join.
Can I change my predictions?
Yes, up to 1 hour before each match kicks off. Later changes have a reduced score multiplier.
What is the prediction style label?
After 5+ predictions, FanPick assigns you a style: Dark Horse Hunter (risky picks), Steady Master (consistent confidence), Score Oracle (exact scores), Confidence King (high confidence), or Balanced Analyst (even mix). It shows on your shareable card.
Is this gambling?
No. FanPick is a free prediction game for entertainment. No real money, no bets, no wagers. Points and bragging rights only.
